Re: Ask LMN: Fred Trotter talks to Jonathan Bush
by Fred Trotter on Friday February 23, 2007 @ 10:04 AM

I have to agree with Ignacio. I think the answer to this question is clearly "no". With reems that could be written on "why not?". I want to ask Jonathan things I do not already know about...

I would be interested to read an article on the reems of why not, since you already know all about it.

As to vistaA being a first class system, I think the bar is low and vistaA looks good at that level but others e.g Daniel http://lorenzo.uwstout.edu/QQMIM/medicalfreesource.html classy vistA as whaleware.

The essay you refer to by Daniel Johnson, MD is dated 1999 and he has since been involved with an effort to get VistA into use with the Mayo Clinic. Your information is out of date at best. What real information do you have about VistA? I suggest that you search this website under the VistA category for more information or try it yourself with the VA CPRS demo http://www1.va.gov/CPRSdemo/
