The American Medical Informatics Association site is a good place to start:http://www.amia.org as well as the http://www.imia.org/ International Medical Informatics Association. Here's a good list of lots of relevant sites worldwide:

http://www.imbi.uni-freiburg.de/medinf/mi_list.htm

Hope this helps,

I am a student at DeVry University and currently enrolled in a Systems An=
alysis and Design class. This class we are working on a project as an IT=
consulting group for New Century Health Clinic. The Clinic as been oper=
ating on a paper system since it opened its doors. They curently have no=
computers to help perform the work. The class groups have been assigned=
to design a new computer system to get away from all the paper trails.
I am a user of Linux (RH) and would like to use open source for our proje=
ct. Most of the class is using Winblows and I do not want to even talk a=
bout my feelings on this subject. I have no idea what is out there regar=
ding open source sw for a health clinic. I have seen some different refe=
rences, but some of those web sites are no longer there or not in English=
.
Now database will need to be used for this project, which most of you alr=
eady know. The big areas I need to focus on are; Appointments and Follow=
up (reminders), Scheduling, and Insurance processing.
Would this group be able to help me with this problem?
Can you point me in the right direction or even a sw package?

Regards,
Darren

Darren,
If you take the whole domain into account you will find that you
need to start with an EHR and then build your other modules onto
that. Otherwise, you will be constantly trying to integrate.
HTH,

You can try the project database in the 'practice management' section:

http://www.linuxmednews.com/linuxmednews/LMNProjects/Projects/Practice%20Management/folder_contents

I have to be un-biased (a condition which is a desirable fiction, of
course) on which one is 'best' but I can say that the ZOPE based ones
and the VistA based project have interesting futures.

Anyone have any experience with certifying a medical device that has
software compiled with gcc? How did you go about ascertaining that
you've exercised due-diligence with respect to the functionality of
the compiler?

Thanks,
Jeff
