Federal Health Board Panel Announcement

The Medical Banking Project announced that it is collaborating with the Mayo Clinic Health Policy Center to organize a panel with top-level health care CEOs and policy experts to discuss the creation of a new “Federal Health Board” at its 2009 Medical Banking Institute on March 11-13, 2009 in Nashville, TN. Identifying U.S-African Collaborations and Projects that Would Benefit from Expanded Bandwidth to Africa

The Internet Educational Equal Access
Foundation
(IEEAF), along with several partners, has received
a planning
grant
from the National Science
Foundation
to propose very high speed Internet extensions, on
the order of 10 Gbps, to connect the academic, research, health and
non-governmental organization (NGO) communities in African countries
to the rest of the world. Such connections would provide African
universities and medical centers connectivity equivalent to the best

Vote for the Open Source idea

A National Dialogue is a site for proposing and commenting on ideas in Health IT created by the National Academy of Public Administration. (amoung others) The site is only open for a few days, if you have something to say (at least to this audience), now is the time.

I have already put forward the basic thesis of Insist on Open Source in Health IT that most LinuxMedNews sympathizers will agree with. The site is only open for comment for a few days. Please help me to get this message to the important organizations who are listening!

Google To Launch New Open Source Web Browser “Chrome” Tomorrow

Google’s got it’s own browser now : Google Chrome. It’s more than just an open source browser, it’s more of an application framework.
Chrome is an Open Source browser based on the Open-Source rendering engine WebKit. It has it’s own javascript virtual machine called: V8. It is a multithreaded browser which makes it more of an OS than a browser. It is hard to underestimate the potential of this new framework for all of software computing, let alone Open Source Medical Apps !
