IRMA call for Participation

The “Call for Participation”:http://www.irma-international.org/conferences/2006/Washington%20DC%20CFP.pdf
for the 17th annual “Information Resources Management Association”:http://www.irma-international.org is available.

You may be asking, “what does this have to do with healthcare?”
From the IRMA website:

*The Information Resources Management Association (IRMA) is an international professional organization dedicated to advancing the concepts and practices of information resources management in modern organizations.*

I think sometimes we tend to get wrapped up in the details of the here and now, to the point where we lose sight of the ultimate goal; “a future proof patient information system”. One that can interoperate and maintain contextually sensitive patient information for a century or longer.

While I am very out-spoken about how healthcare information systems are different than other information systems. This organization produces a lot of good, uptodate information that is very applicable to complex information systems.

There are 60 tracks available and one of them is specifically “Open Source”. Virtually every other one is in some way applicable to healthcare.

Those that may be inclined to volunteer please note that they are still seeking reviewers.

Regards,

Tim
