PR: Misys Connect Goes Open Source

Misys has officially released Misys Health Connect. However, the software was only made available on CD if you attended the SCALE conference. The company plans to release the software on the Internet in the coming weeks.

February 7, 2008: New York (PR Newswire) — Misys plc (FTSE: MSY.L), the global application software and services company announced today that it will release components of proprietary source code to the open source community at the Southern California Linux Expo (Scale), in Los Angeles on February 8. GNUmed server package available

Yesterday I had a nice surprise in my email inbox. Paul Grinberg from PCLinuxOS contacted us with a the announcement that he had built a server rpm which provides a painless setup of the GNUmed server backend. Imagine my surprise when a few tweaks to the spec file were enough to make this work on openSUSE.

Wow. We now have the full end to end solution available for users. All it takes is:

‘zypper install gnumed-client gnumed-server’
